(Minghui.org) A resident in Guangzhou City was scheduled for release on May 30, 2017, but she was taken straight to a local brainwashing center, where she remains to this day.
Ms. Zheng Yingzhu was arrested on May 14, 2017 for talking to people about the Chinese communist regime’s persecution of Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline based on the principle of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
Her family was told that she’d be released 15 days later.
On May 30, her family arrived at Nanzhou Detention Center at 8 a.m. The receptionist told them to come back after 9:30 a.m. to pick Ms. Zheng up.
The family decided to just wait outside. Shortly before 9 a.m., they saw a police cruiser driving out of the gate, with Ms. Zheng inside. They stopped the car, which immediately backed up into the detention center compound.
The police moved Ms. Zheng to a different car and drove her away from the back exit of the detention center. An acquaintance of Ms. Zheng saw Chen Fengying, a staff member of the local street committee, also in the car.
Upon learning of what happened from the acquaintance, Ms. Zheng’s family visited the street committee the next day and was told that she had been sent to Guangzhou Brainwashing Center for refusing to renounce Falun Gong.
The street committee also threatened to send Ms. Zheng’s sister to the brainwashing center too if she kept pressing for her release.
