(Minghui.org) Ms. Li Li, a resident of Pingdu City, was arrested at home on April 11, 2017 for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.
Her lawyer wanted to file a bail request on her behalf. He called Pingdu City Procuratorate on June 7 and learned that her case still rested with the local police.
The lawyer visited Pingdu Police Department immediately after the call, but officer Liu Jie told him to talk to Taishanlu Police Station instead.
The lawyer replied, “They [Taishanlu Police Station] were ordered by you guys to arrest my client and would for sure refer me back here if I tried to talk to them about the case.”
Liu declined to accept the lawyer’s bail request for Ms. Li, but he made a copy of the lawyer’s power of attorney form.
The lawyer next visited Taishanlu Police Station, which, as he expected, sent him back to Pingdu Police Department.
This time, officer Liu took the bail request and promised to forward it to the person in charge.
The lawyer next visited Ms. Li at Pudong Detention Center, where she reaffirmed her determination to fight for her constitutional right to freedom of belief.
