(Minghui.org) A resident in Li County was arrested for requesting information about the 610 Office, an extra-legal agency tasked with carrying out the Chinese communist regime’s persecution of Falun Gong and given power to override China’s judicial system.
Mr. Wang Xianghui demanded such information because the 610 Office directed a local court to sentence him to 11 years in prison in 2002 for tapping into the local cable TV network to broadcast programs about Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
As no law in China criminalizes Falun Gong, Mr. Wang felt compelled to expose the role of the 610 Office in the illegal persecution of Falun Gong.
He mailed multiple requests to relevant central government agencies, demanding public disclosure of the nature and means of the 610 Office.
Police responded by arresting him on June 16, 2017. Wang Junchang of Li County Domestic Security Office and Secretary Gu of Xinxing Town Government personally participated in the arrest. They led a group of officers and ransacked Mr. Wang’s home without showing a search warrant. They also failed to produce a list of confiscated items as requested by law.
Officer Wang refused to disclose where Mr. Wang Xianghui was taken or allow his family to visit him at the local detention center.
Mr. Wang’s mother happened to have just passed away three days before his arrest. His father struggled to try to secure his release while grieving the loss of the family matriarch.
