(Minghui.org) A Jinshan Town resident was doing the Falun Gong exercises on a local plaza on April 11, 2017 when he was seized by police.
Falun Gong is a spiritual discipline based on the principle of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. It has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since July 1999.
As no law in China criminalizes Falun Gong, Mr. Bai Yanbin's doing the exercises was within his constitutional right to freedom of belief. However, he was reported to police, who arrested him and searched his home two hours later.
Mr. Bai was first given 15 days of administrative detention before being switched to criminal detention. The local procuratorate, however, declined to issue a formal arrest warrant for him. He was released on May 12.
