(Minghui.org) A woman convicted for her faith has been abused and denied family visits since her admission to prison more than six months ago.
Ms. Liu Yu’e, a resident of Shenzhen, was arrested on February 28, 2017, while talking to people about Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime. She was secretly sentenced to four years and admitted to Guangzhou Province Women’s Prison in July 2017.
Because Ms. Liu refused to fill out a “criminal profile” form, she has been abused on a regular basis. During her first few days in prison, the guards forced her to clean a 700-seat cafeteria all by herself during the day and to stand the entire time during the night.
Inmates were instructed to say to the surveillance camera in their cells, “I am criminal so-and-so and I'm asking to use the restroom.” When Ms. Liu refused to call herself a criminal, she was not allowed to use the restroom. She decided to drink as little water as possible.
Once she was forced to drink water during a required medical exam. She had to go when she returned to her cell, but the inmates monitoring didn't let her.
Ms. Liu was not allowed to shower or contact her family.
The local Shenzhen Falun Gong practitioners would like to remind Ms. Liu’s family to still try to visit her in prison, which holds visitation day every Thursday. Even if the family gets turned away, they can file a complaint against the prison with its supervising agency.
