(Minghui.org) A Harbin woman recently got 3.5 years in prison for posting information about the persecution of her faith, Falun Gong, around the provincial government complex. She has appealed her sentence.
The sentencing of Ms. Pan Yanhua, 58, came one year following her arrest on September 21, 2017. The police punched her, pulled her hair, and struck her in the back with their knees. She fell to the ground and was unable to move when the police dragged her into the police car.
The police then took her house key and ransacked her home. Her Falun Gong books and cellphone were confiscated.
Officers Zhang Xumin and Gao Feng took her to the detention center late that night. The detention center staff initially refused to admit her upon seeing her injuries, but were later forced by the police to take her.
The police interrogated Ms. Pan at the detention center in late December 2017 and soon submitted her case to Nangang District Procuratorate.
On January 9, 2018, officer Zhang interrogated her again. He threatened that he would create problems for her lawyer for representing her.
The Nangang District Procuratorate transferred her case to the Daoli District Procuratorate on January 23, which sent the case to Daoli District Court on February 12.
The court held a hearing for Ms. Pan on September 10 at the detention center. Only her lawyer and a few family members were allowed to attend.
The court recently delivered the verdict against Ms. Pan.
Ms. Pan had been detained at Mudanjiang Forced Labor Camp for a year in 2000. She was injected with nerve-damaging drugs and suffered from a mental breakdown. After the prison sent her to the Mudanjiang Mental Hospital, the staff there tortured her by shocking her on the head with multiple electric needles.
