(Minghui.org) Six Falun Gong practitioners were sentenced to prison last month by a court in Henan Province. Five of the six received heavy sentences of 7.5 years or more.
The six practitioners, from Xinyang City, Henan Province, were arrested on March 16, 2017. The police ransacked their homes and confiscated computers, printers, and Falun Gong-related materials. It was reported that they had participated in printing Falun Gong informational materials at home.
The six practitioners include Ms. Tao Yuhua, Ms. Yang Chengyun, Mr. Bai Guixian, Ms. Li Junhua, Ms. Ding Xuemei, and Ms. Yang Shanping.
Except for Mr. Bai who was detained at Queshan Detention Center, the other five practitioners were held at Zhumadian Detention Center.
The Yicheng District Court held a hearing on March 22, 2017 and tried the practitioners on May 23, 2018.
The court announced the verdicts on September 19, 2018:
Ms. Tao Yuhua, sentenced to 8.5 years and fined 30,000 yuan;Ms. Yang Chengyun, sentenced to 8.5 years and fined 30,000 yuan;Mr. Bai Guoxian, sentenced to 8 years and fined 26,000 yuan;Ms. Li Junhua, sentenced to 7.5 years and fined 20,000 yuan;Ms. Ding Xuemei, sentenced to 7.5 years and fined 20,000 yuan;Ms. Yang Shanping, sentenced to 2 years and fined 6,000 yuan.
