(Minghui.org) Two years after a Harbin woman was released from a five-year prison term for not giving up her faith in Falun Gong, she was arrested and sentenced to four years again for mailing letters to the public to raise awareness of the persecution of her faith.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a mind-body discipline persecuted by the communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Zhang Guizhi, a retired family doctor in Tonghe County, Heilongjiang Province, was arrested on April 10, 2018 at a post office after the staff found that her letters contained Falun Gong related information.
The police took Ms. Zhang to Harbin No.2 Detention Center. She was savagely beaten by the guards for doing Falun Gong exercises in her cell.
Ms. Zhang appeared in Yilan County No.3 Court on August 23. She didn't have a lawyer to represent her. The judge didn't allow her or her family to defend her. He only permitted her to give a “Yes” or “No” answer to their questions.
Her family was informed by the court on November 12 that she was given a four-year term. She is still being held at the Harbin No. 2 Detention Center at the time of writing.
