(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liao Danying from Shenzhen City was arrested and beaten by police from the Fuqiang Police Station. Her family was detained for trying to rescue her.
Ms. Liao was on her way home from a trip to Hong Kong on January 8, 2018. She was arrested for having two copies of the main book of Falun Gong Zhuan Falun with her. The police ransacked her home the next day, and her arrest was approved on January 21.
About six officers from the Fuqiang Police Station beat her. One young officer kicked her. An older officer punched her, stepped on her face and tore her clothes. A plainclothes officer kicked her and hit her face.
For attempting to do the exercises at the detention center, the guards shackled her and deprived her of sleep. They then put her on rice only meals for over 10 days.
Family Victimized
On learning that Ms. Liao was tortured, her daughter, brother, sister and nephew went to the police station. Three officers tried to stop them from entering the building.
They were encircled by about seven police officers when they reached the second floor and accused of interfering with official business. Then, Ms. Liao's husband and another of her brothers arrived.
They argued with the police. The domestic security officer who had ransacked their home refused to meet with the family. The family was ordered to leave the building.
Ms. Liao's daughter and other family members blocked the car of the domestic security officer. The officer summoned other officers. They dragged the family members around, pushed them to the ground, and handcuffed them. Ms. Liao’s husband, daughter, sister-in-law and nephew were detained.
Ms. Liao's sister-in-law fainted and was taken to a hospital and Ms. Liao’s daughter accompanied her to the hospital. However, she was transferred back to the police station after other family members arrived at the hospital.
Ms. Liao’s daughter and nephew were released around midnight. Ms. Liao's husband was detained for 10 days.
