(Minghui.org) Ms. Chen Xiuying, around 60, lives with her son in Yongbi Village, Shijiazhuang City. She was arrested in nearby Tongye County on December 26, 2017, for talking to people about Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.
The local police ransacked her son’s residence and confiscated her Falun Gong books and more than 100 copies of anti-censorship software. She was taken to Shijiangzhuang City Detention Center on December 28.
The Luquan District Police Department in Shijiazhuang released Ms. Chen on bail in January 2018 after her son was forced to pay 10,000 yuan. They ordered her to report to them on a regular basis.
Ms. Chen’s son wasn’t happy about the bail payment and blamed his mother for bringing him trouble.
The Luquan District Procuratorate summoned Ms. Chen for questioning in early February 2018. When asked if Falun Gong is good, she replied that she had recovered from her ovarian tumor after practicing Falun Gong.
Her son scolded her upon learning that she had told the procuratorate about Falun Gong’s health benefits.
No law in China criminalizes Falun Gong, but many people, including Ms. Chen’s son, have been misled by state propaganda against the practice.
Ms. Chen was scheduled to appear in court on March 15. She may have to face the judge without legal representation, given the lack of support from her son.
