(Minghui.org) Shortly after detention center guards threatened Ms. Lu Sanxiu that they would get her sentenced to three years in prison for talking to people about Falun Gong, she was handed a three-year sentence, with no hearing or trial.
Ms. Lu, who is from Zhangshu City, Jiangxi Province, was arrested on September 2, 2017, when she was talking to people about the persecution of her faith, Falun Gong. The police ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong items.
The police detained Ms. Lu in the Zhangshu City Detention Center for three weeks before transferring her to another detention center in Yichun City. The guards there threatened that they would get her sentenced to three years in prison if she didn't give up practicing Falun Gong. Shortly after that, Ms. Lu was handed the prison sentence.
This was the third time that Ms. Lu was sentenced for her faith. She spent three years in prison and five years in forced labor camps between 1999 and 2007. She was subjected to different forms of torture and fed nerve-damaging drugs because she refused to renounce her faith.
The persecution she was subjected to also took a devastating financial and mental toll on her family. Her mother's health deteriorated due to constant police harassment and she passed away in 2012. Her husband became paralyzed and passed away in 2014.
