(Minghui.org) A Luohe City resident was admitted to prison even though he was found to have a severe heart problem. Mr. Yan Xinliang has since gone on a hunger strike to protest the mistreatment and he is now in a precarious condition.
Mr. Yan was arrested with Mr. Liu Jingmin and Mr. Liu Yingchun on May 19, 2017, for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.
The three men appeared in Linying County Court on November 20, and their lawyers defended their constitutional right to freedom of belief.
Mr. Yan was granted a one-year bail on December 9, after he went on a hunger strike following his court hearing.
Judge Yang Shangwu convicted the three Falun Gong practitioners in 2018, sentencing Mr. Yan to 3.5 years, Mr. Liu Jingmin to 3 years, and Mr. Liu Yingchun to 1.5 years.
Mr. Yan was taken back into custody on March 29, 2018, and sent straight to Xinmi Prison to join the other two practitioners.
