(Minghui.org) Mr. Wang Xinnian, a Falun Gong practitioner in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province, had been missing after he was arrested two years ago for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime. It was learned recently that he was sentenced to five years in prison in 2018.
Mr. Wang was arrested on his way home on the evening of March 21, 2016, by domestic security officers from the Lianhu District Police Department. There had been no news of his whereabouts since his arrest.
It was learned recently that the police department and the procuratorate had fabricated evidence and indicted him after his arrest. He was tried by the Lianhu District Court and sentenced to five years in prison. He is held in Weinan Prison, where he was brutally beaten by guards and inmates.
Mr. Wang lived in the Beiguan area of Xi’an. He had been imprisoned seven years earlier and was released in 2014. He lost his job, and his wife and child left him. He lived alone and supported himself by doing odd jobs.
After posters about the persecution of Falun Gong appeared in his neighborhood in March 2016, the police searched his home, found pieces of wood similar to the ones used for the posters, and arrested him. It was learned at one point that he was in Ankang Hospital, but there was no news of him afterward.
