(Minghui.org) My family heard that a qigong master would be coming to Shanghai in the spring of 1992 and would give a talk on qigong at the Culture Palace.

My husband bought tickets, but I did not want to go as I wasn’t keen on qigong at the time. Just as everyone was leaving, I still didn’t want to go.

My family said, “Just go. Otherwise, we will waste a ticket.” With reluctance, I went with my family.

That night, as I got into bed, suddenly my body was enveloped in a golden light. It was very soothing and pleasant. I looked up and saw a figure sitting in the sky. He looked like a Buddha statue in temples. He was wearing yellow clothes and was shining with brilliance.

I didn’t know what was happening and felt shocked and a bit scared, too. I opened my eyes and said to my husband, “Get up quickly! There is big Buddha sitting in the sky, wearing yellow clothes and he is glowing with a golden light!”

My husband got up, stood on the balcony for a while and said, “I can’t see anything.”

“There is a light shining into our room and it is still glowing,” I said.

“Was he the qigong master we saw today,” my husband asked, “He was wearing yellow clothes.”

“No, it’s not the same person. They don’t look the same. That qigong master we saw today was small-built. Why can't you see him? He is right up there,” I said again.

“I really can’t see anything,” my husband said, and it appeared that he truly could not see anything.

I felt baffled and rather scared at that time. My husband said we should go to sleep as we had to go to work the next day.

However, with the light shining upon me, I could not sleep at all. I covered my head with a quilt and closed my eyes, but it did not help. I crawled under the bed, covered myself with the quilt and closed my eyes tight. It still didn’t work. I took out all the clothes from the wardrobe closet and hid in it. I wrapped myself with the quilt, but the light was still shining upon me.

I felt that I could see whether I had my eyes open or shut. I seemed to be seeing things through my brain.

I went to the kitchen and covered my head with a big wok, but it still could not block the light. The light followed me everywhere I went. I gave up, as it was already 3:30 a.m. by then.

I told my colleagues at work about my experience the next day and asked if any of them saw the Buddha figure sitting in the sky. Nobody did. They said I must have been dreaming. Some even asked if I had become superstitious and laughed at me.

I thought: I never believed in God, Buddha or qigong in the past. Why was I experiencing all this? The light from the Buddha-figure was shining on me all the time, but nobody else could see it. I could not figure out why, but the light was following me everywhere I went.

I was riding a bicycle on the street one day and felt really hot with the light shining upon me, but I wasn’t sweating. Suddenly I shouted out “Master” from the bottom of my heart. It was pretty loud and people around me all turned to look at me. I felt rather embarrassed and dropped my head.

After 18 days, the light gradually disappeared. I believed that the figure I saw was my Master. I thought in my heart: I will find my Master so that my colleagues would no longer say that I’m superstitious.

I began to get interested in legendary stories about the Eight Immortals crossing the sea and other myths and believed that they were all true.

Later, many qigong masters had classes in our area. I never attended any of them because none of the masters was the Master I was looking for.

The experience also changed my temperament.

I resigned from work in 1995. With both our sons attending universities, we were rather tight on money. When I saw other people selling flowers, I also got some wholesale flowers and sold them at the evening market.

Other people sold flowers for 25 to 28 yuan each, I sold them for 12 yuan each. I only took a small number of flowers with me each time and went home as soon as I sold them all. I was quite happy.

By and by, word spread that there was a lady selling flowers at a reasonable price and she did not rip off people. More and more people came to buy flowers from me.

My elder son graduated at the end of 1996 and I stopped selling flowers. I began to have health problems: arthritis, gynecological issues, a stomach problem, and atrophy of a capillary in the brain.

I had sequelae from a birth control surgery years before. I'd had six or seven operations earlier, but all the problems appeared again. Life was really hard for me.

One day in October 1997, a neighbor said to me, “Your health is so poor. Come and practice qigong with me.”

I asked her what kind of qigong it was, and she told me it was Falun Gong. “It’s a Buddha school practice and it's really good. It’s free and all practitioners are very nice,” she said.

Hearing it was a Buddha school practice and it was all free, I agreed to go with her.

We went to the practice site in the morning. When an assistant lady was teaching me the exercises, I had a feeling as if I had come back home from a far-away journey. I felt very excited.

The next day, the assistant showed me a chart of the exercises. I was stunned when I realized that the Falun Gong Master who was demonstrating the fifth exercise was the very Master sitting in the sky that I saw five years ago. He looked exactly the same, even the posture.

I became very emotional and my hands began to tremble. In fact, my whole body was trembling. Tears ran down my face. I had at last found my Master.

I knew all this was true. I started practicing Falun Gong straight away without hesitation.

I’m 65 this year. My life has taken an amazing change since 1992.

Twenty years have passed and I’m still practicing Falun Gong, not because of the early magical experience I had, but because our Master has taught me the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and I have become a better person with good moral values under his guidance.
