(Minghui.org) Ms. Liu Yuzhuo heard a knock at around 6 a.m. on June 26, 2016. She opened the door to see a group of heavy-built men break in. They turned her house upside down and took away her personal belongings.
These men were not robbers, but police officers. They targeted the 55-year-old woman in Yingkou City because she refused to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.
Ms. Liu was forced to do hard labor without pay at Yingkou City Detention Center. She testified in her own defense during her court appearance on February 15, 2017. Her husband raised his hand and asked to say a few words for his wife. The presiding judge stopped him. When he objected, two bailiffs dragged him out of the courthouse.
Ms. Liu was sentenced to 4 years in prison and fined 10,000 yuan on April 26, 2017. Her appeal was soon turned down, and she was moved to Shenyang Women's Prison.
According to insiders, the prison didn't allow Ms. Liu to purchase daily necessities using money her husband deposited in her commissary account. She had to wear clothes given to her by other inmates.
During each family visit, two people watched Ms. Liu closely and they'd cut off the meeting as soon as her husband asked how she was doing in prison.
Ms. Liu was also forced to do hard labor without pay. She wasn't allowed to talk to other people nor use the restroom as needed.
