(Minghui.org) A Yingkou City resident serving time for her faith has been forced to do hard labor without pay in prison. Her family is extremely concerned about her wellbeing and longs for her return.
Ms. Zheng Wei, 56, was arrested on February 11, 2016, for filing a criminal complaint against former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin for initiating the persecution of Falun Gong. She appeared in court on October 19, 2016, and was sentenced to 4 years in prison.
Judge Zhao Na deliberately didn't notify Ms. Zheng's family and lawyer of her prison sentence. By the time they found out on December 21, the deadline to appeal had already passed. When confronted by Ms. Zheng's lawyer and family, Zhao claimed that she had no obligation to send out the notice.
Ms. Zheng was forced to do hard labor without pay in the Yingkou City Detention Center. The abuse continued after she was admitted to Dabei Prison in Shenyang City on January 3, 2017. According to insiders, she has been ordered to finish excessive amounts of work every day, all the while enduring poor living conditions.
Her 78-year-old mother is worried that Ms. Zheng doesn't have enough to eat in prison and that she might be starving. Ms. Zheng's husband, son, daughter, and mother-in-law are also anxious for her return.
