(Minghui.org) Ms. Xu Dongmei, a school teacher in Dongguan City, was illegally sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison on April 2, 2018. The Dongguan Third Court stated Ms. Xu was guilty of using QQ group chats to message people about Falun Gong.
Even though Ms. Xu had over 1,000 QQ contacts, Chinese law does not prohibit practicing or speaking about Falun Gong, so nothing Ms. Xu had done was illegal.
The court also fined Ms. Xu 5,000 yuan and confiscated some of her personal belongings, including eight mobile phones, an iPad, a laptop computer, and two hard drives.
Ms. Xu was taken to Guangdong Women's Prison on May 12, 2018.
Ms. Xu had been arrested at her dorm by officers from the Dongguan City Qiaotou Police Station on September 13, 2017, then held at the Dongguan City Shangqiao Detention Center.
