(Minghui.org) It was recently learned that three Falun Gong practitioners in Beijing have been sentenced to prison for refusing to renounce their faith.
Ms. Zhou Xiuzhi was sentenced to seven years and is now imprisoned at Beijing Women's Prison. She was arrested on August 2, 2015, for filing a criminal complaint against former communist regime leader Jiang Zemin for ordering the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999. She was detained at Haidian Detention Center before being transferred to the prison.
Ms. Li Wanqing was sentenced to three years and is now imprisoned at Qianjin Prison in Tianjin. She was arrested around the Chinese New Year in 2017 for putting up festive poetry containing Falun Gong-related messages on her front door. The prison denied her family visitation. Only her daughter had been allowed to visit her once.
The third practitioner, Ms. Yang Xiuzhi, is in Beijing Women's Prison and has been experiencing physical symptoms. It is unclear when and for how long she was sentenced.
Ms. Yang, 52, was arrested on January 3, 2016, for refusing to renounce Falun Gong. Prior to her latest sentencing, she had been repeatedly arrested and sentenced. She had been detained at the notorious Masanjia Forced Labor Camp and brutally tortured. During a home raid in August 2008, the police confiscated 10,000 yuan cash from her.
