(Minghui.org) A 56-year-old disabled resident from Wuhan, Hubei Province, was recently sentenced to two years in prison for talking to people about Falun Gong and its persecution by the communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Huang Yufeng received the verdict shortly after she stood trial at Hanyang District Court on August 28, 2018. She pleaded not guilty for practicing Falun Gong and talking to people about the spiritual discipline.
Just one day before the trial, Ms. Huang's 83-year-old mother, Ms. Peng went to the court and asked the judge when her trial would take place. She was preparing to defend Ms. Huang. The judge told Ms. Peng that the trial time had not been decided yet, but it was in fact scheduled for the next day.
This wasn't the first time that Ms. Peng was met with obstruction when seeking justice for her daughter. Earlier this year, she was arrested and detained for several days for delivering a defense letter to the director of the detention center where Ms. Huang was kept in custody.
Ms. Huang was arrested on October 8, 2017, after she was reported to police for talking to people about Falun Gong. She has since been detained at Wuhan No.1 Detention Center.
