(Minghui.org) A 74-year-old woman has been detained incommunicado for eight months for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Wang Shaoqing, a resident of Jingzhou City, Hubei Province, visited her daughter in Wuhan, the capital city of Hubei Province, in early 2019. She was arrested on March 7, 2019 for talking to people about Falun Gong in a park and has been detained at the Wuhan City No. 1 Detention Center since.
Her daughter went to the detention center multiple times but wasn’t allowed to see Ms.Wang. She hired a lawyer for her mother in May 2019, but the lawyer wasn’t allowed to see her either.
The police told Ms. Wang’s daughter that she didn’t have to hire a lawyer to represent her mother and there was no need for her to visit Ms. Wang at the detention center, as she is doing well inside.
It was reported that a dozen Falun Gong practitioners were arrested with Ms. Wang on March 7, including Ms. Zhou Xiuwu who is nearly 80 years old. The case status of the other arrested practitioners remain to be investigated.
