(Minghui.org) A Hegang City, Heilongjiang Province resident arrested for practicing Falun Gong has been held incommunicado for nineteen months.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Qi Xiumei, 55, a former elementary school teacher, was arrested on March 30, 2019. The police claimed that she was recorded by surveillance cameras for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. They ransacked her home and put her into criminal detention at Baoquanling Detention Center.
Ms. Qi’s family made several deposits for her at the detention center, but they were never allowed to see her. They also discovered that 10,000 yuan on her payroll card was transferred to an unknown bank account after her arrest.
Ms. Qi was recently transferred to Hegang Detention Center and her case has been submitted to Jiansanjiang Farm Administration Procuratorate.
This was the third time that Ms. Qi has been arrested for her faith.
She was first arrested in February 2007 and detained for 30 days. The elementary school she worked at demoted her to a janitor and banned her from teaching.
She was arrested again in late August 2011 while attending a gathering of local Falun Gong practitioners.
She was sentenced to four years in prison by Nongken Court on May 10, 2012 and sent to Heilongjiang Province Women’s Prison on August 2, 2012. She was forced to do long hours of unpaid labor, while being subjected to intensive brainwashing against her faith.
