(Minghui.org) Six Falun Gong practitioners in Taian City, Shandong Province, who were arrested on different occasions, were all indicted on December 29, 2018, by the Feicheng City Procuratorate for refusing to give up their faith. It wasn't clear what prompted their arrests and prosecution.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline based on the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. It has been persecuted by the communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Han Yuehua, 74, whose arrest date remains to be investigated, was released on bail on June 1, 2018. Prior to her latest ordeal, she had spent two years in a forced labor camp for not renouncing her faith in Falun Gong.
Ms. Lu Keqin, 68, a retired staff member of the Shandong University of Science and Technology, was arrested on June 4, 2018. The police ransacked her home and held her at Taian Detention Center for three days before releasing her on bail. She had spent one year in a forced labor camp in the past for practicing Falun Gong.
Ms. Ma Junting, 78, a retired Shandong University of Science and Technology professor, had her home ransacked by the police on June 7, 2018. They confiscated her Falun Gong materials and told her she was “out on bail” before leaving her home.
Mr. Zhang Xumin, 54, former deputy director of Feicheng City Land Resources Bureau, was arrested on August 14, 2018. His arrest was approved on September 19. He is currently detained in the Feicheng City Detention Center. He had served four and a half years in prison and two years in a forced labor camp for practicing Falun Gong.
Ms. Liu Qian, 53, a former elementary school teacher, and Ms. Hu Xiuxiang, 43, were arrested on August 15, 2018. Their arrests were approved on September 19. Both women are now in the Taian City Detention Center.
Ms. Liu has already served five years in prison and one year in a forced labor camp for not renouncing her faith.
