(Minghui.org) Two women from Mengyin County, Shandong Province have been denied family visitation since their arrests on December 25, 2017 for talking to people about Falun Gong at a farmers market. Their families learned from a newly released inmate in late 2018 that both women have been secretly sentenced to three years in prison.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a mind-body improvement system that has been persecuted by the communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Kan Hongxia and Ms. An Lianyu were kept at Linyi Detention Center for nearly a year before a local court secretly convicted them for their faith. Their families didn't receive any information from the authorities about when they were tried and sentenced, and how long their prison terms are.
It wasn't until November 2018 that the families found out about the prison sentences from a person who was just released from Jinan Women's Prison. The person saw Ms. Kan and Ms. An at the prison and learned that they had each been sentenced to three years by Yishui County Court.
