(Minghui.org) Ms. Gao Chunlian from Zhuozhou City, Hebei Province, was sentenced to five years in prison. She was held in the Hebei Provincial Women’s Prison (which is also called Shijiazhuang Women's Prison) from August 16, 2015, to February 25, 2019. The prison officials attempted to forcibly “transform” her, making her renounce her belief in Falun Dafa. One method they used was to deprive her of sleep for extended periods of time.
Wang Ye, head of the ward, instructed the inmates to prevent Ms. Gao from sleeping. The first time it went on for eight days and nights. The second time she was deprived of sleep for six days and nights. The third time was from December 19, 2015, to January 6, 2016, a full 18 days and nights.
The inmates did not let her sleep, not even for a second. She was not even allowed to keep her eyelids closed a little longer when she blinked. As soon as her eyes closed, the inmates would spray her face with cold water from a perfume bottle.
In the end, Ms. Gao could not think clearly and collapsed. When she fell off the chair, her face was bruised and became swollen. She, as well as other practitioners who were deprived of sleep, were traumatized both physically and mentally as a result of such torture.
The Minghui website has published numerous reports about the persecution of Ms. Gao since 2002. The Hebei Provincial Women’s Prison continues to torture Falun Gong practitioners. All practitioners held in the prison are subjected to forced brainwashing. Two or more inmates are assigned to coerce each practitioner to read books and watch DVDs that slander Falun Gong. The inmates pressure, intimidate, and insult practitioners. They combine persuasion with deceit and beatings to try to “transform” practitioners. For five or six months, practitioner Ms. Lang Shuying from Qinhuangdao City was not allowed to close her eyes and was tortured to the brink of collapse.
