(Minghui.org) Ms. Li and Ms. Zhao, senior practitioners from our Fa-study group, often traveled to another area to visit Ms. Chen, who was suffering from illness karma. A bit over a month ago, on their way back home, Ms. Li was illegally arrested and held in police custody for one month. After this happened, practitioners from our area started reflecting on themselves. As Master Li said:
“Whatever it is that you encounter, the first thought should be to scrutinize yourself, and it’s called “looking within.”” (“What is a Dafa Disciple” in Collected Fa Teachings, Vol. XI)
I have practiced Falun Dafa for many years. Although I was aware of the need to “look within,” due to my attachments, I often ended up looking outward. Miraculously, every time I began to look at others' shortcomings as opposed to my own, I felt very uncomfortable. I immediately knew that my behavior was off.
I came to enlighten that this occurred because I wasn't living up to “Cultivate your xinxing without a moment’s pause,” (“Real Cultivation” in Hong Yin).
I understood that it came down to my limited cultivation level—the root cause was that I didn't study the Fa well. When a tribulation occurred, I could look inward only when I treated other practitioners as if they were myself.
The practitioners from our local Fa-study group had been worrying about Ms. Chen. When her situation was discussed, I told them that I wanted to join them and visit her as well. Since I often heard about her, I figured that this matter had something to do with me as well. When the four of us finally made a trip to her home, we found that Ms. Li and Ms. Zhao were already there.
While visiting Ms. Chen, I observed that when she was doing the sitting meditation, her body leaned over to one side. Her vision was poor as well, which made it difficult to read the Fa on her own. She relied on Ms. Li to read it to her.
Ms. Li told me that Ms. Chen sat very upright and didn’t bend her waist at all when she was reading the Fa. I asked Ms. Chen, “Can you focus on sitting upright while doing the sitting meditation?”
She told me that she felt pain, and I asked, “Where exactly does it hurt, could you please tell me?”
She then pointed to one side of her hip bone and said: “It is as if something is sticking out that is making me feel so uncomfortable.”
In our sharing, I came to know that she had been longing for other practitioners to send righteous thoughts for her to help her snap out of the illness karma tribulation. Before that, she had been part of a Fa-study group of four people. But after another senior practitioner and she encountered illness karma tribulations, their Fa-study group disbanded.
Ms. Zhao had also been a member of the previous Fa-study group, so the women had known each other for a long time. When she was sharing her opinion about Ms. Chen and was acting a bit agitated, I felt that I was looking at a mirror of myself because I behaved just like her.
I feel that we often worry about practitioners when they fail to pass trials and tribulations, which is normal. However, I also understood that worrying might not generate a positive impact, because such behavior was caused by an attachment.
On the other hand, since the practitioner experiencing the tribulations also had attachments, then other's concerns may not be well-received, and a gap would likely be created between them and the group.
When one runs into tribulations, one needs to listen to Master, rectify oneself, and treat practitioners with kindness. Only by doing so does one comply with a practitioner's state of mind.
When Ms. Li complained that in order to help Ms. Chen, she had to sacrifice the time she had planned to use to talk with people about Falun Dafa, I said,“When I witness other practitioner's issues, I will have to look inward. Why is it that what you said seemed to be something exactly targeting me?” The women smiled.
I thought: “Without knowing who I was, they could see through my attachments. This was truly miraculous!”
After I came home and began the sitting meditation, I kept my back away from the support of the couch. I recalled what I gained from my visit with Ms. Chen. Other practitioners were rectifying themselves, and I have to quickly catch up with them!
