(Minghui.org) A resident of Huangshi City, Hubei Province, who was out on bail was sentenced to two years in prison with three years of probation for his faith in Falun Gong.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual and meditation discipline centered on the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance. It has been persecuted by the communist regime since 1999.
Mr. Liu Heming, 69, was arrested on August 3, 2017. The police ransacked his home and confiscated his printers, computer and other personal belongings.
When Mr. Liu's lawyer visited him on September 23, 2017 at Huangshi No.1 Detention Center, he told the lawyer that his blood pressure was as high as 220 mmHg. He had difficulty breathing as he talked.
The lawyer filed a bail request immediately after the meeting. Mr. Liu was released on bail one week later, after 57 days of detention.
The staff at Huangshigang District Procuratorate contacted Mr. Liu's family in mid-September 2018 and demanded that he have another physical exam and submit the results to them. The prosecutor said that they would share the results with Huangshigang District Court and that the judge would decide his case then.
Mr. Liu received the verdict issued by Huangshigang District Court on March 26, 2019. It wasn't clear whether he stood trial or has been taken back into custody.
Mr. Liu used to have severe diabetes, heart and kidney problems, and cardiovascular diseases. His physical conditions, as well as his hot temper, all went away after he began to practice Falun Gong.
