(Minghui.org) A Xianyang City, Shaanxi Province resident was secretly sentenced to three years in prison and is now denied family visits for not renouncing her faith in Falun Gong.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Zhang Hao, a convenience store owner, was arrested on December 3, 2017, while distributing informational materials about Falun Gong in Qian County. The police initially gave her 15 days of administrative detention. But when her daughters went to Qian County Detention Center on the fifteenth day to take her home, she had already been transferred to Xianyang City Brainwashing Center.
Wang Yanfei, the head of Qian County Domestic Security Division later called Ms. Zhang's daughters and asked them to sign on her arrest notice. Wang said Ms. Zhang had been transferred again, this time to Xianyang City Detention Center, and that the authorities were planning to sentence her.
When Ms. Zhang's daughters went to the detention center in early 2019, they were surprised to learn that Ms. Zhang had been sentenced to three years and she had already been admitted to Xi'an City Women's Prison.
According to insiders, Ms. Zhang was savagely beaten and verbally abused by the inmates for talking to them about Falun Gong and doing the Falun Gong exercises in the prison.
As her daughters aren't allowed to visit her, they are very worried about her situation.
Prior to her latest arrest, Ms. Zhang was arrested on March 17, 2017, and detained at Qian County Detention Center for five days before being released.
