(Minghui.org) A resident of Jingzhou City, Hubei Province, was arrested on July 11, 2019 for his faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Mr. Li Yuehu was riding his motorbike in the evening when three unidentified individuals stopped him to check his license plate. The police came shortly and arrested him, confiscating his motorbike in the process.
Four officers ransacked his residence the next day. The police tore up his two Falun Gong-themed paintings and confiscated his Falun Gong books and some personal belongings. Officers then forced Mr. Li's brother to sign the list of confiscated items when his illiterate mother refused to sign.
Previous Arrests and Detentions
Prior to the latest arrest, Mr. Liu had been arrested twice for his faith.
The first arrest was on November 9, 2015, when Mr. Li and three other practitioners went to Douhudizhen police station to demand the return of Falun Gong books that had been confiscated from them.
Without returning the books, the police called Xiang Xiaoyang of the Domestic Security Division and said that the four practitioners had gone to make trouble for them. Xiang came shortly and arrested Mr. Li.
The police kept him incarcerated for five days without informing his family. He returned home on November 14.
Mr. Li was arrested again on July 5, 2016 after the police saw him talking to people about Falun Gong. When Mr. Li resisted the arrest, the police tied his hands and feet before forcing him into the police car. They slammed the car door against his feet when his legs were outside of the car.
Mr. Li was detained for half a month at the detention center. His family weren't informed of his detention.
Repairing the Road Voluntarily
Since he began to practice Falun Gong, Mr. Li has lived by the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance and is well known among locals. The road in his village had many potholes that turned into muddy puddles after rain, making it difficult for local farmers to transport their vegetables to the markets.
In the past three years, Mr. Li had been patching the holes to provide convenience for the villagers when the local government failed to do the job. His good deed moved his neighbors, who joined him and donated funds to completely re-pave the road.
