(Minghui.org) Family members of Ms. Sun Yuping were ordered by the presiding judge of Ninghe District Court to sit facing the wall during her hearing on July 9, 2019. She was tried for not renouncing her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Only three of Ms. Sun's family members were allowed to attend the hearing. The presiding judge threatened to remove them from the courtroom if they turned their heads to watch the proceedings.
According to Ms. Sun's family, the judge spoke with a very low voice during the hearing, and they couldn't hear him at all. He adjourned the hearing in 30 minutes without issuing a verdict.
Ms. Sun, a resident of Tianjin, was arrested on February 26, 2019 by officers from Yuelong Town Police Station. The police ransacked her house without a warrant. She was taken to Ninghe District Detention Center that evening and has been held there since.
