(Minghui.org) Two Beijing residents were arrested for spreading information about their faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Li Baoqin and Ms. Hao Qiuying were seized from their workplaces on the morning of July 10, 2019. The police ransacked Ms. Hao's home around noon and then sent both women to Changping District Detention Center, where they have since been held.
Ms. Li, 55, began practicing Falun Gong in 1997. She credits the practice for helping her to become more positive about life and have a broader mind to handle stressful situations.
She was arrested and subsequently put into a forced labor camp in 1999, after going to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. She said the guards once stripped her naked to body search her, and didn't stop the male inmates from watching her on the side.
Ms. Hao, 52, took up Falun Gong in 1996. She had previously suffered with a severe kidney condition, but couldn't afford medical treatment. A friend of hers introduced her to Falun Gong, and her health recovered soon. She was discharged from the hospital and returned to work. At home, she takes good care of her mother-in-law, who is approaching 90 years old and often cooks her favorite food for her.
