(Minghui.org) Four Chongqing residents were stopped by police officers as they were about to leave a friend’s house on August 8, 2019, after having studied the teachings of Falun Gong together.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
The officers searched the purses of Ms. Liu Chengbi, 73, and her daughter, Ms. Tian Hong, 43, and confiscated from them five copies of The Ultimate Goal of Communism, a book that exposes communism’s evil nature and how the communist specter is plotting to destroy mankind through the destruction of people’s culture and morality.
Another Falun Gong practitioner who was present asked the officers who they were and demanded to see their police badges. The officers refused to show their identification and handcuffed her. They proceeded to search the home of 68-year-old Ms. Wang Maoru, the host of the study group. Her computer and Falun Gong books and materials were confiscated.
Ms. Wang and her four guests were taken to Yuzhong District Police Station. The officers measured their heights, collected their fingerprints and blood samples, and interrogated them.
The four guests' homes were also ransacked and their computers and Falun Gong books confiscated.
Ms. Wu Jiashu and Ms. Zhu Huiqun were released around 4 pm on August 9. Staff members from their street committees have been harassing them almost every day since, rendering them and their families unable to live a normal life.
Ms. Wang, Ms. Liu and Ms. Tian were taken to Shibanpo No. 1 Detention Center on August 9.
The prosecutor at Yuzhong District Procuratorate dismissed Ms. Tian’s case but approved Ms. Liu’s arrest on September 13. Ms. Tian was soon released, and her mother remains in custody and faces indictment for her faith.
Ms. Wang is also held in detention, and her case status remains to be investigated.
