(Minghui.org) A Hefei City, Anhui Province resident has been held in detention for over two years for his faith in Falun Gong.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Mr. Li Chaosheng, a stele carving artist, was arrested on October 20, 2017 after being reported to officers from Longgang Police Station for talking to people about Falun Gong.
The police threatened to ransack his home, so Mr. Li’s wife turned in his Falun Gong books, which were then used as evidence to hold him in custody.
The police kept telling his wife that they would release him after going through certain procedures, but after more than two years, he is still being detained.
The police and agents from the 610 Office, an extralegal agency created to persecute Falun Gong, went to Hefei Detention Center in late 2019 with Mr. Li’s family. They attempted to force him to plead guilty in exchange for his release. Mr. Li refused to comply.
