(Minghui.org) A Falun Gong practitioner became temporarily deranged after she was forced to take unknown drugs while detained in Baimalong Forced Labor Camp in 2008.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Wu Jinping, 60, from Changsha City, Hunan Province, was arrested and detained twice for refusing to renounce Falun Gong. She was also fined and her home ransacked.
Ms. Wu and several other practitioners were arrested at her home in March 2008, while watching Falun Gong’s lecture videos together. She was sent to Baimalong Women’s Labor Camp for a year and six months.
In June 2008, three officers forced her to take two pills, one white and one yellow, with the excuse that she was coughing. She lost her mind and started raving the following day.
Three months later in September, she was completely mentally disordered. Her brother paid the labor camp 3,000 yuan and took her home. She could not recognize anyone in her family by then.
Ms. Wu’s family sought treatment for her at several hospitals, but she remained mentally unstable.
With the help of several local practitioners, she resumed reading Falun Gong books and doing the exercises, and her sanity gradually returned.
When she recovered, Ms. Wu recounted that another practitioner named Shu Bilan was forced to take four pills and ended up even worse than Ms. Wu. She has been in a vegetative state ever since her release.
