(Minghui.org) A Shulan City, Jilin Province resident who credits Falun Gong for curing her cancer has been detained for nearly three months for raising awareness about the persecution of her faith.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is an ancient spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Wang Yaqin was diagnosed with lung cancer in August 2004. She sold her house and borrowed much money to pay for the medical expenses. After five chemotherapy sessions, however, her cancer still metastasized.
With only 1,300 yuan in hand, she stopped the medical treatment and went to her sister’s home in the countryside. Upon hearing about her situation, a neighbor recommended Falun Gong to her. After one week of practicing, her health quickly improved and she was able to walk by herself. A month later, she was delighted to find herself cancer-free. Many people in the village were amazed by her miraculous recovery.
After the police heard about her story days later, they arrested her in early 2005. One officer hit her head with a book.
The police harassed her eight times within five days in 2010. Officers ransacked her home and confiscated her computer, Falun Gong books, photo of the founder of Falun Gong, and 800 yuan in cash. Her husband was also arrested and held at the police station for a few hours.
Ms. Wang was arrested again on July 15, 2020. The police confiscated her Falun Gong books and 6,000 yuan in paper currency, which were printed with messages about Falun Gong as a creative way to combat the communist regime’s strict censorship. She has been detained at Jilin City Detention Center since.
