(Minghui.org) A 75-year-old retired teacher in Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province is facing trial for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Che Lihua was arrested in either late April or early May 2020 after being reported for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was first detained at the Futian District Detention Center, before being transferred to the Nanshan District Detention Center on August 24.
Ms. Che developed seriously high blood pressure and was hospitalized for 11 days. The police kept the handcuffs and shackles on her while she was in the hospital. She also experienced other symptoms after being sent back to the detention center.
Meanwhile, the police submitted her case to the Nanshan District Procuratorate, which indicted her and moved her case to the Nanshan District Court.
Ms. Che’s lawyer visited her on November 13. The judge said they were planning a video hearing in the coming week.
Ms. Che’s ailing husband, who has been relying on her for his daily needs, now struggles to care for himself.
