(Minghui.org) Two married couples in Bairin Left Banner, Inner Mongolia were recently harassed for their faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Mr. Ma Honghui and Ms. Zheng Guizhi
Three female officers knocked on Mr. Ma Honghui’s door on November 12, 2020. Mr. Ma opened the door, only to have another three officers (two male and one female) rush over from the side. Two females officers took photos and videotaped Mr. Ma’s home and his conversation with the officers.
A male officer kept asking whether Mr. Ma and his wife, Ms. Zheng Guizhi, were still practicing Falun Gong. While Mr. Ma remained silent, Ms. Zheng urged the officers to stop coming to harass them. She said that she had a heart condition and almost died from the torture she suffered during her three-year prison term between 2012 and 2015 for refusing to renounce her faith. The six officers didn’t say much and left.
A few days later, two of the six officers found the couple's daughter and attempted to urge the young woman to sign statements to renounce Falun Gong on her parents’ behalf. They threatened her, “If you don’t sign it, the police will harass your parents in a few days. They may arrest them as well.” Worried about her parents, Mr. Ma’s daughter was forced to sign the renunciation statements.
Mr. Zhang Lixin and Ms. Wu Guohua
Mr. Zhang Lixin's brother called around November 12, 2020, to say that he was under pressure from government officials in Shisan’aobao Town to persuade Mr. Zhang and his wife, Ms. Wu Guohua, to give up their faith in Falun Gong. Mr. Zhang explained to his brother that it was within his freedom of belief to practice Falun Gong and that he would not compromise in the face of the government’s authoritarian intimidation.
At around 7 p.m. on November 16, two officers knocked on Mr. Zhang’s door, but he refused to open it.
A team of officers returned at around 9 a.m. on November 23. They hit the door hard and tried to use a master key to open it but failed.
