(Minghui.org) Although my husband is a veteran disciple who started practicing Falun Dafa in 1998 and I had read Zhuan Falun and knew that Dafa is good, I didn’t take the teachings seriously until 2006, when I was struck by a line from Master Li Hongzhi's teachings:
“Someone said to me: "Teacher, it’s enough to be a good person among everyday people. Who can succeed in cultivation?" After hearing that, I felt really disappointed!” (Lecture Eight, Zhuan Falun)
Am I that person? No, I can’t make Master sad. I want to cultivate! With this thought, I felt honored to be a Dafa disciple. From then on, my life was melded in the Fa, and I became a particle of Dafa.
Master Li said:
“You will be made to abandon all those attachments that cannot be given up among everyday people. As long as you have them, all of those attachments must be removed in different environments. You will be made to stumble, whereby you will become enlightened to the Tao. This is how one goes through cultivation practice.” (Lecture Four, Zhuan Falun)
When I learned this section of the Fa, like a child, I said, “Master, I will truly cultivate. But I don’t want to stumble because that is very painful. I can enlighten to the Dao without stumbling, can’t I?” It seemed like I heard Master respond: “As long as you can enlighten to it, it will do.”
In June 2006, I read one of Master's articles titled “Cultivating the Heart and Severing Desire.” Realizing that cultivators have to sever all desire, I talked with my husband about this principle. Being a veteran disciple, he had already thought about this and agreed that it was necessary.
When my desires arose, I thought of Master’s words so my heart would become pure and righteous:
“From a high-level perspective, everyday people are playing with mud while in society without realizing that it is dirty. They are playing with mud on earth.” (Lecture Six, Zhuan Falun)
A fellow practitioner was illegally arrested and taken to the police station when she went to clarify the truth about Dafa in a rural area. Outside the police station, several practitioners and I sent righteous thoughts, asking Master to strengthen her so she could quickly leave the station.
However, after she was released, she came to my home and blamed me for blocking another practitioner from going inside the police station and asking for her release. I felt wrongly accused because no practitioner mentioned going into the police station to ask for her release, and neither did I think of doing so. I had fear at that time.
I did not argue with the practitioner and even regretted that I hadn’t asked the police to release her. I explained, “I didn’t have such a righteous thought at that time.”
Two days later, she called me to apologize for wronging me. She said, “You did great.” I said happily, “Thank you for giving me a chance to improve. Just as Master told us, looking inward is a magical tool.”
I, too, was illegally arrested one day while waiting for the bus to go home after speaking with people about Dafa. I clarified the truth to the arresting officers, and one of them snarled: “You still dare to talk? You will face the consequences once we are in the police station.” I said in my heart, “What you say doesn’t count. Master is in charge.” I felt that Master was by my side. I was not afraid, nor did I have any negative thoughts.
While in the police station, I didn’t tell them my name or any other information they asked for. Two officers came in, and one said, “Tell us your name and we will let you go home.” I said peacefully, “It’s not that I don't want to tell you my name. If I cooperate with you, it will harm you. I am being considerate of you.” He asked me three more times, and I repeated my answer. Finally he said, “You can go.”
All I know is that with Master's care, I continue to walk steadily on my cultivation path.
