(Minghui.org) A Songyuan City, Jilin Province resident was recently sentenced to 12 years for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. He Ping was arrested on the morning of September 10, 2019 as soon as she returned home after visiting her mother. The police ransacked her residence and confiscated her Falun Gong books, a computer, five cellphones and more than 20 SIM cards that she used to make phone calls to the public to raise awareness about the persecution of Falun Gong.
Ms. He was detained at the Songyuan City Detention Center for 13 days before being sent to the Shanyou Detention Center, where she has been held since.
Her family learned in January 2020 that she had abdominal pain, was unable to eat and lost a significant amount of weight. It’s not clear whether her condition still persists at the time of writing.
Her family recently found out she has been sentenced to 12 years. It’s reported she is still detained in the detention center right now.
Ms. He is the second practitioner who has been given a heavy term in Songyuan since last year. Mr. Liu Qing was arrested on August 15, 2019 and sentenced to 11 years on August 27, 2019. He is in critical condition as a result of prison abuse, but is denied medical parole by the Jilin Province No. 2 Prison.
