(Minghui.org) A Beijing resident was tried by the Changping District Court on October 28, 2020 for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Lu Mingfang, a 47-year-old native of Linfen City, Jiangxi Province who works in Beijing as a housekeeper, was stopped by three officers on September 28, 2019, when she left her client’s home. A police car came two hours later and took her to a local police station. She was restrained on a chair in the basement overnight. The police refused to provide her with any water, despite the fact that she hadn’t had any water earlier that day.
The police later transferred Ms. Lu to the Nankou Detention Center. They kept her family in the dark about her situation. Her family didn’t find out about her arrest and detention until they reported her disappearance four days later.
It was reported that the police targeted Ms. Lu because of her creating some groups and publishing articles on QQ, a popular social media app in China. The officers monitored her for months before arresting her.
The Beijing Procuratorate approved Ms. Lu’s arrest on November 5, 2019. The detention center authorities didn’t allow her family to visit her, but only accepted some winter clothes for her at the end of last year. When her family returned to deliver daily necessities for her this year, the guards refused to accept anything on her behalf.
Ms. Lu’s sister went to the police station several times and requested that they release her on bail, but was refused each time.
