(Minghui.org) A Wuhan City, Hubei Province resident was tried by Hanyang District Court in a hospital room on November 27, 2020, for his faith in Falun Gong.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is an ancient spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Mr. Luo Yaxiong, 30, a native of Macheng City in the same province, was arrested at his apartment on December 25, 2019. He had been found by the police through cellphone surveillance five days before for distributing Falun Gong materials.
The police beat him at the police station and sent him to the Hanyang District Detention Center the next day.
Mr. Luo started a hunger strike on November 9, 2020, and was sent to the hospital. Ten police officers were assigned to monitor him.
Mr. Luo’s family was kept in the dark of his situation for the past year and didn’t know about his detention until his hearing in late November this year. They also learned that he has lost half of his weight due to the persecution in the past year, from 176 pounds to 88 pounds.
During his hearing on November 27, Mr. Luo remained silent and refused to sign any document. His brother-in-law signed the notice of house arrest for him. It’s not clear whether the authorities were planning to put him under house arrest once he is discharged from the hospital.
