(Minghui.org) After 162 days of detention, two Guiyang City, Guizhou Province residents were both sentenced to three years for their faith in Falun Gong.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is an ancient spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. He Yunjie, 48, and Ms. Liu Shuya, 54, were arrested on June 10, 2020, after they were reported for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong in mid-May. The police ransacked both of their homes and confiscated their Falun Gong items. They were detained in the Sanjian Detention Center.
Both women were tried by the Nanning District Court on November 19, 2020. Each of them only had two immediate family members who were allowed to attend the trial.
The judge first sentenced them to three years each for distributing Falun Gong materials and then allowed them to defend themselves.
Ms. He said that as a Falun Gong practitioner, she lives by the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance. She is a good daughter and mother at home, and also a hard-working and conscientious employee at work. The judge interrupted her statement. She replied, “I didn’t do anything wrong in practicing Falun Gong and being a good person.”
Ms. Liu also entered a brief defense statement for herself.
