(Minghui.org) A Zhumadian City, Henan Province, woman was sentenced to seven years for her faith in Falun Gong on December 9, 2020.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is an ancient spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Yan Weibin, in her 50s, was arrested on July 16, 2020, after being reported for distributing materials about Falun Gong. The police ransacked her home that afternoon.
Ms. Yan’s arrest was approved on July 31 and she was transferred to the Zhumadian City Detention Center. She was required to have a physical exam and was found to have Hepatitis B. It’s not clear if the detention center arranged for her to have any medical treatment.
The local procuratorate indicted her in September and moved her case to the Yicheng District Court. She was secretly tried around October 14. Her family wasn’t allowed to attend her hearing.
The judge sentenced her on December 9. Her family has vowed to appeal her verdict. She is still in the detention center at the time of writing.
