(Minghui.org) Only days after Ms. Shen Jinyu finished serving four years for her faith in Falun Gong, her younger daughter, Ms. Liu Zhenling, was arrested for refusing to give up their shared faith in Falun Gong.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is an ancient spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Shen, 69, of Yanqi County, Xinjiang Province, was arrested on September 18, 2016, while she was visiting Jiayuguan City, Gansu Province. The police targeted her after getting reports that she had distributed Falun Gong informational materials. She was sentenced to four years on August 23, 2017.
She developed high blood pressure in the Jiayuguan City Detention Center in Gansu Province. In March 2018, less than four months after she was admitted to Lanzhou Prison in Gansu, her uterine fibroids that had been cured by practicing Falun Gong recurred. The prison confirmed that she had uterine cancer in 2019 but turned down her family’s requests to secure medical parole for her.
On March 17, 2020, the police ransacked Ms. Shen’s home in Yanqi County and confiscated her Falun Gong books and other personal belongings. Cellphones and IDs that belonged to her husband and older daughter were confiscated. To avoid being arrested, her younger daughter, Ms. Liu, was forced to live away from home.
On September 26, 2020, only a week after Ms. Shen returned home, Ms. Liu was arrested after being reported for talking to people about Falun Gong. To collect more information about Ms. Liu, the police interrogated and ransacked the homes of several other practitioners and their family members.
Prior to Ms. Liu’s latest arrest, the police have been monitoring her family’s daily activities and harassing them for years. Their family business has lost hundreds of thousands of yuan due to the persecution.
