(Minghui.org) As the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) continues to spread both inside and outside of China, many Falun Dafa practitioners have realized the importance and urgency of saving people. I'd like to remind us to remain rational as we talk to people about the epidemic.
I read an article about several practitioners in China who sent the following text messages to their relatives and friends during the recent Chinese New Yea: “the 2019-nCoV specifically targets those who blindly follow the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to persecute innocent people.”
I think that most people would not be receptive to such a statement. Even if it is true, we’d better add some introductory or background information before advising people to quit the CCP, assuming our audience is receptive to what we say.
We cannot just start the conversation with the above-mentioned statement or things like “heaven will eliminate the CCP.” We will turn people away if we claim that those who are infected and those who die of the virus are incurring retribution for following the CCP.
This is not like those instances where those who persecuted Dafa practitioners incurred retribution and where a cause-effect relationship can be easily established with solid facts.
We have had many such lessons in the past. During the SARS epidemic in 2003 and the Sichuan earthquake in 2008, some practitioners made inappropriate remarks, which may have negatively affected our efforts to save people.
The best approach is to be aware of how people are thinking and how much they can accept. Based on that, we can provide appropriate information to guide them in the right direction. This is different from just blurting things out without thinking or venting our emotions or resentment. One recent article on Minghui titled “Show Our Compassion to People in the Face of the Wuhan Coronavirus Outbreak” is a good reference.
