(Minghui.org) A 48-year-old man in Yilan County, Heilongjiang Province, was taken to a quarantine room for coronavirus patients after he lost consciousness from being abused in a detention center for practicing Falun Gong. He is now denied visitation by anyone.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is an ancient spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Mr. Gong Fengqiang’s arrest on December 27, 2019, came twenty days after his wife, Ms. Li Yanjie, fell to her death while trying to escape arrest, also for practicing Falun Gong. Mr. Gong survived the fall but was arrested soon afterwards.
After Mr. Gong fell into a coma on January 27, 2020 (the third day of the Chinese New Year), guards at Yilan Detention Center reported it to the Domestic Security Division, who then transferred Mr. Gong to the hospital without informing his family.
His family is now calling on the international community to help rescue him.

Because they refused to renounce their faith, Mr. Gong and his wife were repeatedly arrested, detained, and tortured in the past 20 years.
Mr. Gong was fired from his job, taken to a forced labor camp for a two-year term in 2001, and given a five-year prison term in 2007. He suffered a mental breakdown and lost his hearing after being force-fed, beaten, and denied restroom use at the detention center.
When he was finally released on medical parole in December 2008, he had lost his memory and couldn’t recognize anyone at home. He didn’t know how to talk, eat, or take care of himself. He often fainted. His urine was milky-white. He suffered constant chest pain and had trouble breathing. He also had heavy sweats that often soaked his bedding and clothes.
Although he survived and gradually regained his memory after resuming his practice of Falun Gong, the police never stopped persecuting him and his family.
