(Minghui.org) Due to the spread of the coronavirus, our city was quarantined on January 26. All the roads were blocked and monitored. Even though Chinese New Year is the busiest time of the year, the streets were deserted.
I felt sad, but I remembered what Master said, “The only thing you have a role in is saving people...” (Teaching the Fa in the City of Chicago, Collected Fa Teachings, Vol. VII) My daughter, who is also a practitioner, suggested that I go to the supermarket and clarify the truth about Falun Dafa. Each time before I go out, I send out a strong thought to deny the old forces' arrangements and to thoroughly eliminate the negative entities that persecute people and that prevent them from learning the truth.
On January 28th I went to the supermarket. It's such a large place, but there were few customers. When I put a box of milk in my shopping cart, I told the young shop clerk that wearing a face mask was really uncomfortable. She said, “The coronavirus is spreading, we have no choice!” I came closer and said, “Many people are saying, ‘Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good,’ and quit the Chinese Communist Party and its affiliated organizations. They feel blessed and safe.” As I spoke I gave her a little keepsake.
She took it and said, “I'm just an average person.” I suddenly realized that she was a Falun Dafa practitioner. I smiled and said, “Let’s not be average.” I thought she was being very humble.
A week later, when I read the Fa with my family, my daughter read, “When a wise person hears the Tao, this person will practice it diligently. When an average person hears it, this person will practice it on and off.” (Zhuan Falun, Lecture Nine) I thought about what the practitioner at the supermarket said. Was she being humble, or was that really her cultivation state? I felt that I should visit her again.
When I went to the supermarket, the practitioner saw me and exclaimed, “I thought about you yesterday. Now you are here!” When I came closer, she said, “I haven’t read Minghui Weekly for a long time. Can you get me a copy?” I said, “Yes. I’ll bring you a copy every time a new one is published.” I gave her the copies of Minghui Weekly I had and a few more keepsakes.
When I got home, I downloaded and printed out two earlier issues of Minghui Weekly. I also gave her some other Dafa fliers and magazines.
Remembering to Help Our Fellow Practitioners
Three years ago, I met a fellow practitioner my age. She greeted me warmly and asked if I interacted with other practitioners, if I read Minghui Weekly, and if I participated in the local Fa study. When I said yes to all her questions, she felt assured. Now, when I compare myself to her, I feel ashamed. After cultivating for so many years, I still don't think of others! Thanks to Master’s arrangement, I was able to help the practitioner at the supermarket.
I brought the materials to the practitioner the next day and said, “I'll come here every week. If you need anything, just let me know.”
On the morning of February 18, I went to the supermarket and gave her more Dafa materials. She was so happy. She quietly said, “These materials are so good. I am very lazy but I must quickly hand them out. Please give me more. I'll distribute them tonight after work.”
On the way home, my heart couldn’t calm down. For several years, I couldn’t face my laziness and didn’t want to acknowledge it. My heart to pursue comfort made me miss sending forth righteous thoughts at midnight. I always found excuses for my laziness. The fellow practitioner admitted openly, “I am very lazy!” It affected me deeply.
It looked like I was helping her, but that young practitioner helped me instead! She's like a mirror that reflects my attachment. I still have a lot to learn. I must cherish our relationship and do the three things well.
