(Minghui.org) A Dandong City, Liaoning Province resident has been detained more than three months and is facing indictment for her faith in Falun Gong.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is an ancient spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Zheng Guixiang was arrested on November 20, 2019 while talking to people about Falun Gong in a supermarket. Agents from Taiping Police Station interrogated her before sending her to Dandong No. 1 Detention Center, where she remains captive.
An acquaintance of Ms. Zheng's went to the police station in late December 2019. The friend told Chen Long, the officer in charge of Ms. Zheng’s case, that Ms. Zheng didn’t do anything wrong and demanded her release. Chen replied that the case had been submitted to the local procuratorate and they were no longer in charge of it.
Ms. Zheng’s son, who worked out of town, went to the police station on February 20, 2020, to demand her release as well. This time, Chen said she had been indicted and the prosecutor had forwarded her case to the court.
But when Ms. Zheng’s son went to the Zhen’an District Court to inquire about her case, he was told that the case was still with the procuratorate.
Ms. Zheng’s son later confirmed that his mother’s case was still with Tao Xia, a prosecutor with Zhen’an District Procuratorate. As Tao has indicted several Falun Gong practitioners and sent them to jail in the past, Ms. Zheng’s son is worried that his mother might be framed or sentenced for her faith in the near future.
