(Minghui.org) As the coronavirus pandemic ravages countries outside of China, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is ramping up its propaganda machine to spread rumors that the U.S. army may have brought the virus to Wuhan. More and more people and news media have come to realize that the CCP's continued cover-up of and lies about coronavirus information is the root cause of the global pandemic.
Germany-based Bild, one of the best-selling newspapers in Europe, wrote about China, “The explosion of the Corona epidemic shows us in the most painful way: The land of smiles lies smiling in our faces. Over and over again.”
An article from Washington Post gave the coronavirus a better name, “Let’s just call it the ‘CCP virus.’ That’s more accurate and offends only those who deserve it.”
A Wall Street Journal article believes that Iran's close ties with China may have contributed to its exploding coronavirus cases, “The exact route of the virus is unclear. But Iran’s strategic partnership with Beijing has created a constellation of potential contacts that helped unleash the illness, called Covid-19.”
Bild: Lies from the CCP
“China's most successful achievements include porcelain, paper and: deception,” wrote Bild, in an article on March 12, with the title of “This is how China lies smiling in the face of the world.”
The article said the CCP covered up the coronavirus outbreak since the beginning and punished people who exposed it. The number of cases was under-reported as part of the censorship, leaving outsiders in the dark as to the real number of infection and death cases.
Now the lies continue as the CCP claims the virus came from the U.S.
The Bild article believes that Germany's reliance on China made it willing to believe in the CCP's lies about coronavirus and many other things. For example, “Because Volkswagen sells millions of cars a year in China, the VW boss doesn't want to know about Chinese re-education camps for Uyghurs and alleged troublemakers.”
“There is only one thing to believe in China: on the way to superpower, its corona lies weren't the last deception in the world. It's up to us how we deal with their lies,” wrote the article.
Washington Post: The CCP Virus
Washington Post published an article by Josh Rogin with the title of “Don’t blame ‘China’ for the coronavirus — blame the Chinese Communist Party” on March 19.
Rogin expressed his support for the U.S. to push back against the CCP’s attempts to rewrite coronavirus history. “We must all be specific in blaming the Chinese Communist Party for its actions. It was the CCP that hid the virus outbreak for weeks, silencing doctors, jailing journalists and thwarting science — most notably by shutting down the Shanghai lab that publicly released the first coronavirus genome sequence,” he wrote.
He quoted Christopher Walker, vice president for studies and analysis at the National Endowment for Democracy, as saying, “It is critical to remember that the Chinese people have no meaningful say in the measures taken by their government,” and that “In the haze of authoritarian information curation and disinformation now coming from Beijing, we can’t lose sight of the massive authoritarian governance failure at the global pandemic’s point of origin.”
Because of that, it is important to distinguish the Chinese people from the CCP. “In Australia, the political class has been debating CCP influence operations for several years. One report put out by the Australian Strategic Policy Institute suggested some clear guidelines on how to avoid the trap. The report states that we should avoid generalizations, clearly distinguish between the Chinese government and the Chinese people, and take care not to alienate ethnically Chinese citizens at home. In turn, we must also be careful not to attribute racist motives (unless justified) to those who criticize the Chinese authorities,” wrote the article.
Rogin also quoted John Fitzgerald, emeritus professor in the Centre for Social Impact at Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, as saying, “Above all, the CCP has engaged in wedge politics to undermine legitimate public debate on Chinese Government policy and conduct within Australia.”
We must continue to press Beijing for more transparency and truth, which are crucial to stopping the pandemic, wrote the article.
“Let’s stop saying “Chinese virus” — not because everyone who uses it is racist, but because it needlessly plays into the Chinese Communist Party’s attempts to divide us and deflect our attention from their bad actions,” Rogin concluded, “Let’s just call it the “CCP virus.” That’s more accurate and offends only those who deserve it.”
Wall Street Journal: Iran and the CCP Virus
“China’s strategic interest in Iran is intensifying. Chinese manufacturers are looking to establish new operations in Iran, and Tehran is viewed as a vital transport and logistics hub,” wrote an article on oilprice.com titled “Iran To Become Essential Hub In China’s Belt And Road Initiative.”
An article from Benoit Faucon published on Wall Street Journal on March 11 wondered whether Iran's close ties to China exacerbated the coronavirus spread in the country. The Wall Street Journal article was titled “Strategic Partnership With China Lies at Root of Iran’s Coronavirus Outbreak.”
“Iranian officials trace the origins of the country’s coronavirus epidemic to the holy city of Qom, home to dozens of seminaries and religious shrines—but also a number of Chinese-backed infrastructure projects built by scores of workers and technicians from China,” wrote the article, “This critical link to China, centered in Qom, has helped keep Iran’s economy alive in the face of American sanctions. And it is now being stress-tested by the coronavirus.”
Iranian health officials said the coronavirus in Iran was either from Chinese workers or an Iranian businessman who traveled to China. So far, over 20,000 people, including high-ranking officials, have been infected.
“Mr. Jahangiri is the most senior Iranian official yet infected with the virus. The list of infected officials also counts more than 20 lawmakers, as well as Masoumeh Ebtekar, a spokesperson for the Iranian students that besieged the U.S. Embassy in Tehran in 1979 and who currently serves as a more junior vice president and the highest-ranking Iranian woman in government. Deputy Health Minister Iraj Harirchi, prominent reformist Mahmoud Sadeghi and the head of parliament’s foreign-policy commission, Mojtaba Zonnouri, have also been infected,” wrote the article.
