(Minghui.org) Fifteen residents in Siping City, Jilin Province, remain in custody even though the procuratorate returned their cases to the police on March 15, 2020, for insufficient evidence.
The 15 people were targeted during a group arrest of 34 local Falun Gong practitioners on August 15, 2019. Although more than half of the practitioners were later released, 15 of them remained detained at Siping City Detention Center, where they were denied meetings with their lawyers.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since 1999.
The Lishu County Domestic Security Division is still attempting to resubmit the practitioners’ cases to the prosecutor.
The 15 practitioners who are still detained include Mr. Han Jianping, Mr. Li Changkun, Mr. Jiang Tao, Mr. Tan Qiucheng, Ms. Cui Guixian, Ms. Liu Dongying, Ms. Zhang Shaoping, Ms. Zhou, and seven members from one extended family (Mr. Meng Xiangqi, his father Mr. Meng Fanjun, his mother-in-law Ms. Fu Guihua, his sister-in-law Ms. Yu Jianli, her husband Mr. Wang Dongli, and Mr. Wang's parents Mr. Wang Kemin and Ms. Wang Fengzhi).
