(Minghui.org) An 81-year-old woman has been forced to live away from home since April 3, 2020, to avoid being arrested for her faith in Falun Gong.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is an ancient spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since 1999.
Ms. Yu of Fushun City, Liaoning Province, was arrested on April 2, 2020, after being reported for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was taken to Gebu Police Station and forced her to put her fingerprints on the interrogation record.
The police ransacked her home that afternoon and confiscated her Falun Gong books and materials. They then brought her back to the police station and interrogated her for several more hours before letting her go around 10 p.m.
The police ordered her to report back to the police station the next day. Not wanting to be arrested again, Ms. Yu decided to go into hiding.
In recent weeks, the police and residential committee staff members in Fushun have been harassing local Falun Gong practitioners by calling them and demanding that they write statements to renounce Falun Gong. When the practitioners refused to comply, some of their family members were deceived by the authorities into signing the statements on their behalf.
